The F.A.L.C.O.N.S. Tutorials are a series of workshops designed to provide high school students with skills and support needed to meet local and state graduation requirements and prepare for life beyond high school.
Tutorial Goals
SWHS teachers serve as the back bone of the tutorial program. Teachers serve as Team Leaders providing the crucial support to students tutorial program successful.
SWHS counselors are another essential component of the F.A.L.C.O.N.S. Tutorials. They design and deliver many of the lesson plans in addition to meeting individually with students.
The Career Center, staffed by specialists, is an integral part of the F.A.L.C.O.N.S. Tutorial program. Students will find career information in the resource lab including the online WOIS system which helps students prepare for post high school options whether choosing college, technical school, military and/or a future career.
These four learning goals provided the foundation for development of the Essential Academic Learning Requirements (EALRs):
Read with comprehension, write effectively, and communicate successfully in a variety of ways and settings and with a variety of audiences;
Know and apply the core concepts and principles of mathematics; social, physical, and life sciences; civics and history, including different cultures and participation in representative government; geography; arts; and health and fitness;
Think analytically, logically, and creatively, and to integrate different experiences and knowledge to form reasoned judgments and solve problems; and
Understand the importance of work and finance and how performance, effort, and decisions directly affect future career and educational opportunities.
