On November 29th you were last informed on the status of the water treatment project for our Maxwelton sites. We would like to update you on the current status.
The water treatment project is designed to correct a number of problems we have with our Maxwelton water quality, including high levels of iron and manganese, low pH which relates to our lead leaching problem, and overall taste, appearance and quality. These issues required a new treatment process and facility.
We have selected a contractor to construct a building and install the water treatment equipment. The district purchased the treatment equipment directly and has it on-site and ready for installation. The building permit is also in hand. The contract documents are in the process of being signed and reviewed. The US Department of Agriculture will be the final agency to approve the contract. Once USDA approval is received the contractor will be given the notice to proceed.
The contractor has scheduled the plant to be operational this summer. Once ground has been broken, additional status reports will be posted as we all await the completion of this project.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we worked through this complicated problem and the approval process required for this project.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call us at (360) 221-1897.
Sincerely,
Joseph A. Anastasi, Jr.
