- Once applied, the SWSD Transportation Department will reach out to provide you with all of the necessary paperwork
- Meet with Linda Proctor, Director of Transportation to discuss process.
- Obtain Medical Examiners Certificate
- Must get paperwork from SWSD Transportation Department

- Paid for by SWSD (they bill SWSD)
- Complete Drug Screening
- Must get paperwork from SWSD Transportation Department

- Obtain Commercial Driver License CDL Permit
- SWSD Transportation Dept or DOL can provide study book
- Bring identification documents -- including birth certificate and medical examiner's certificate

- The CDL Permit fee is out of personal pocket until the training class is passed.
- Take Training at the Mt. Vernon School District Transportation Department

- Training will run Monday through Thursday, 9am through 4pm
- Class from 9:00 -12:00, then break for lunch, and then class 1:00 - 4:00
- Fridays will be for homework, studying the pre-trip on their own, and/or extra behind the wheel training (BTW) if needed.
- The first two weeks: class in the morning/BTW in the afternoon.
- The 3rd and 4th week are more individualized (BTW and prepping for the CDL exam).
- Pass training class and test
- SWSD Transportation Department sets up interviews for full time positions, routes, and substitute drives.
