​Superintendent Search Survey
​The South Whidbey School District Board of Directors Superintendent Search process is now underway. The Board is seeking stakeholder feedback regarding what people see as the strengths of the district, challenges to be addressed, and leadership qualities and characteristics important for success as a superintendent in our community. The district's search firm, Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA), is hosting and managing this survey. HYA associates will analyze the results of this survey along with input gathered during listening sessions with stakeholders to inform the development of a Leadership Profile Report to be presented to the School Board on October 23, 2024 at their scheduled meeting. This report will be posted to the district's website and will assist the Board with recruiting, screening, interviews, and selection decisions. 

The Board and HYA thank you for completing this survey by Friday, October 4, 2024 at 4:00 p.m.

  • August 14th HYA Presentations and Individual school board director interviews
  • August 16: Announcement Posted on District, HYA, WASA and WSSDA websites 
  • September 19 & 20: Stakeholder interviews,  focus groups and forums
  • September 18:  HYA Info Table at SWES Coffee with the Principal
  • September 19: HYA Info Table at SWHS/MS Curriculum Night
  • September 19 - October 4: Survey Staff, Students, Family and Community
  • October 23: HYA Leadership Profile Report presented at Board Meeting
RECRUITMENT:
  • August - November:  HYA Recruitment
  • November 13: Search Update at Board Workshop
  • November 25: Superintendent Application Position CLOSES

SELECTION:

  • December 11: Executive Session  - Presentation of Candidates; Discussion of qualifications
  • January 8: Executive Session: Semi-Finalists Interviews
  • January 13-17 (exact date/time TBD): Finalist in District, Background checks
  • February TBD: Contract Negotiations
  • February 26: Board Meeting Decision on New Superintendent Contract

TRANSITION:

  • Spring TBD: Transition Meetings and Activities in District
  • July 1: New Superintendent Contract Begins
