South Whidbey School District School Board named Board of Distinction by Washington State School Directors' AssociationPosted by Kristina Macarro on 1/1/2017
Every student is a successful independent learner, empowered for life in the global society of the 21st century.
In partnership with our community, we are deeply committed to provide our students with the best educational experience, preparing them to become capable, creative, caring, and responsible citizens.
The South Whidbey School District Board usually meets twice monthly unless otherwise stated. All meetings are held in the Community Board Room on the South Whidbey Elementary School Campus, unless otherwise stated. The monthly Board Workshop is held on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. The Workshop is generally used for more detailed discussion of issues, board business, building reports, staff presentations, etc. requiring more time than would be possible at the Business Meeting. Action is taken at the Board Business Meeting and may be taken at a Special Business Meeting on a Workshop date. The Regular Board Business Meeting is held on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. These meetings are used for board communications, business, and administration.
Public participation is an integral part of successful schools. Meeting agendas are prepared by the board chair and superintendent and are available on our web site prior to meetings. The community is encouraged to attend.
School Board Continuous Education
The School Board is continuously educating and self-evaluating themselves to be the best for the South Whidbey School District.
School Board Standards
In the November 6, 2007 General Election, the voters of South Whidbey School District #206 approved the redistricting of board director districts into three geographical and two at-large positions. The 2010 Census changed the boundaries slightly. The director districts are outlined below.
